How do we rise to this challenge?  Meet southern Albertan Suzanne West, recognized as one of Alberta’s most progressive visionaries and fearless business leaders.  Suzanne, Founder and CEO of Imaginea Energy, had a dream and was inspired by working with Sir Richard Branson to create the oil company of the 21st century.  Suzanne will share how she is transforming the oil industry and how her philosophy of empowering talented people is foundational to achieving planet, people, profit.

Bob Black is Executive Vice-President of Edmonton Arena Corp, Chief Project Development Officer for the Oilers Entertainment Group and directly represents Darryl Katz, one of Canada’s most influential businessmen, investors, and philanthropists.  What responsibility do businesses, entrepreneurs and community leaders have in building communities?  How do you take a dream that was nearly a decade in the making and whose fruition would fuel optimism of what a community can do? Bob will discuss the vision, the leadership qualities, the sound judgment, the passion and the persistence in the face of challenges that it took to design and develop the $613 million Rogers Place and ICE District as a tremendous catalyst, spurring over $5 billion in current development, to revitalize downtown and re-ignite the community spirit of one of Canada’s great cities. 

Six time Stanley Cup Champion, five in Edmonton and one in New York.  Two league MVPs and one play off MVP.  Twice named by the players as their MVP. The only player to captain two different professional teams to championship. As a tribute to one of the finest leaders in NHL history, the National Hockey League awards the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award to the player who exemplifies great leadership qualities to his team, on and off the ice during the regular season.  Messier an iconic Canadian, one of the best all-time leaders in any professional sport, a good team builder, and a successful businessman will share leadership lessons which has inspired top of the game excellence.  Commemorating the National Hockey League’s 100th Anniversary, the Stanley Cup’s 125th Anniversary, and Canada’s 150th Anniversary, Messier will also share in stories of what it means to be Canadian and be a great difference maker in Canada’s national game.
